According to the LA Times Local today the US 9th Circuit Court of Appeals placed a ban on gay marriages back in place until it can hear the case, presently on the calendar for early December of this year.
The ruling overturns the one issued by Judge Vaughn Walker who ruled on August 4, 2010 that California's same-sex marriage ban was unconstitutional and same-sex marriages should be allowed to proceed beginning August 18th. [Read the rest of this article...]

On August 4, 2010 a momentous moment in American history took place. Proposition 8, a California law limiting the ability of homosexuals and bisexuals to marry by requiring that marriage be between "one man and one woman" was overturned, opening the door for homosexuals and bisexuals within the state to marry. There is the possibility of similar actions in many other states, based upon the same violation of Constitutional law. There is potentially the chance of moving the case up to the Supreme Court, challenging the federal Defense of Marriage Act.
